*SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS *
JOB TITLE: * Journeyman Mechanic/Machinist *REQUISITION: NUC00A4 DEPARTMENT: Mechanical Maintenance LOCATION: Wolf Creek - Burlington, KS PAY RANGE: $51.94/hr
*POSITION SUMMARY: * The Journeyman Mechanic/Machinist will maintain mechanical equipment at WCNOC which requires the fabrication and repair of components in the Machine Shop utilizing precision machine tool techniques in addition to the duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman Mechanic.
*PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * • Maintain mechanical equipment at WCNOC which requires the fabrication and repair of components in the machine shop utilizing precision machine tool techniques. • Perform machine shop work on lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other shop equipment, including electric, hydraulic and pneumatic power tools, to repair or manufacture parts or components to ensure plant mechanical equipment meets full availability. • Identify and promptly report to the Mechanical supervisor any incidents, events, deviations, deficiencies or discrepancies relating to the Technical Specifications, licenses, permits, QC or QA programs. • Participate in and successfully complete the administrative, technical and basic WCNOC mechanical training program courses. • Perform duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman Mechanic. • Plan, organize and control assigned programs to oversee that the program meets the intended function. • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: * This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a minimum classification as a Journeyman Mechanic and a minimum of three years as a Machinist, and the successful completion of a machinist practical performance examination or a minimum of three years directly related experience or equivalent training as a journeyman mechanic and three years as a machinist or equivalent training, and the successful completion of a machinist practical performance examination.
*COGNITIVE SKILLS: * • This position requires the ability to: read and interpret documents such as procedures, safety rules, pre-job briefs and radiation work permits (RWPs); write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization. • This position requires the ability to: calculate figures; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. • This position requires the ability to: apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram format; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
*VISION: * This position requires the ability to pass vision requirements associated with Company physical.
*NOISE: * This position requires the ability to work in loud environments.
*ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: *
• This position requires the successful completion of the MASS test. • Management has the right to require this position to pass and maintain respirator fit and qualification when necessary. • This is not an essential job function for this position, but management retains its rights to ensure adequate numbers of respirator-qualified personnel to meet station requirements. • This position requires a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
