Job Description

It’s an exciting time to be part of IFF! We are looking for our next Design Manager to become part of our industry-leading team.

The Manager of Frozen Desserts and Fluid Dairy seamlessly integrates their frozen dessert/dairy expertise with strong commercial understanding to lead creativity, innovation, and best in class support to IFF customers. Leads the Frozen Dessert/Fluid Dairy Team to ensure timely project execution leveraging resources to drive growth in alignment with the category strategy and regional business objectives. Contributes to an innovative culture to execute strategic initiatives and build relationships both internally and externally influencing sales growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the growth of the Frozen Dessert and Fluid Dairy pipeline and execute against all technical service requests via the Salesforce platform.

  • Align with sales to ensure IFF Frozen Dessert and Fluid Dairy customers receive best in class product solutions, exemplary service and regular interaction in support of sales and business unit growth targets.

  • Work with business units to develop and execute strategies to achieve growth targets, safeguard product quality and support business continuity. This includes qualification of alternate suppliers and direction on specifying raw materials and IFF products solutions to ensure a consistent and uninterrupted supply to our customers.

  • Organize lab activities to facilitate effective planning. Provide clarity to scientists and lab personnel to accomplish tasks taking into consideration customer urgency, sales and business unit goals to prioritize the work.

  • Collaborate with flavorist and sensory scientist for end-to-end product development and positive customer experience.

  • Implement best practices.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, account managers, Business Unit partners and team members related to market needs and project status.

  • Provide technical guidance for successful commercialization of new flavors, ingredients, advancing IFF technology while consistently taking a pulse of the market to bring to life new trends.

  • Demonstrate deep passion for full product design, creativity, science, collaboration, and networking with cross-functional teams.

  • Stay current on food and dairy industry trends and anticipate customer needs to proactively develop new solutions to meet demand. Support sales with materials and concept samples to demonstrate IFF capability to customers.

  • Manage CAPEX projects to ensure timely implementation and smooth execution.

  • Anticipate, investigate, and resolve problems related to raw materials, solutions, finished products and initial scale-up procedures.

  • Mentor individuals with capacity for increased responsibility by motivating and them for key project roles and supporting career development.

  • Successfully demonstrate regional implementation of new technology in appropriate projects.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years working experience in industrial food, ingredient, or flavor industry plus a minimum 5 years in the specific field of expertise.

  • Proven leadership experience, either direct or in a cross functional role.

  • Working knowledge of milk, dairy ingredients and dairy processing. Including composition, chemistry and process settings as these items affect product quality, function and consumer acceptance.

  • Familiarity with milk and frozen dessert regulations in North America and how customer use these requirements to develop marketing strategies both within and outside standard of identities.

  • Experience in dairy product development including formulation, lab analysis, pilot plant production and commercial scaling.

  • Understanding of how ingredients interact during processing and freezing and the effect this has on product function.

  • Minimum entry level a degree in Food or Dairy Science or related discipline.

  • Preferred Master’s Degree and/or PhD in related area.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary.

  • The ability to organize and track multiple activities is essential.

  • Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.

  • This position is considered an Anchor and requires working in the lab/pilot plant for 5 days/week.
