TITLE: Controller/Director of Finance

STATUS: Full Time

REPORTS TO: CFO

LOCATION: Corporate Headquarters Wichita, KS

PAY RANGE: Annual Salary Negotiable with NetWork Kansas benefits package

Assets Under Management: \$65 million. Manages cash assets, monitors loan portfolios and budget for NetWork Kansas.

Personnel Under Management: Direct management of the Sr. Finance Manager, and two Accounting Clerk positions.

Key Responsibilities: Working under the direction of the CFO and in partnership with other executive staff, this is a key role and responsible for financial management of all cash assets including balance sheet and income statement management, monitoring of cash flows, grant administration, loan, and venture portfolios.

  • Monitor and manage all financial resources including balance sheet and income statement management, fiscal year budgets, grant management related to budgets, and other revenue and expense management including the overall documentation of all internal accounting policies and processes and oversee monthly closings.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the CPA firm engaged to complete all annual tax returns and oversight of the annual audit and any audits related to new or existing programs including federal and state audits and providing financial reports to the state of Kansas annually.
  • Support strategic revenue generation and/or budget offset through grants, utilization of tax credits, interest income and partnerships.
  • Work with all three organizational units in the areas of financial management and fiscal year budgets.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to monitor and track resource allocation and investments to contractors, businesses, and nonprofits as an integral part of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategies.
  • Monitor and manage financial administration including the funding process, asset reporting and financial compliance for the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) program. SSBCI 2.0 is a \$70 million-dollar small business lending and equity investment program.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Working with our PEO provider on processing a bi-weekly payroll including tracking and reporting of hours pursuant to specific grant requirements, all related G/L entries, and other payroll and benefit related reports and activities.
  • Coordinate human resource activities between our outsourced provider, executive management, and the NetWork Kansas staff.
  • Manage the financial side of the loan portfolio including monitoring asset utilization, reporting on overall portfolio performance, payment processing, monitoring delinquencies, working with appropriate partners and other outside contractors as appropriate.
  • Manage the financial compliance and reporting of the equity portfolio investments.
  • Oversight and management of audits with outside organizations related to federal program administration if applicable.
  • Oversight and financial management of two wholly owned subsidiaries.
  • Work with the executive team on annual budgets, monitoring and reporting on financials, administrative o fice support, and financial reporting to the Board of Directors,

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:

Understanding of the entrepreneurial process and commitment to high levels of customer service.

Bachelors degree with emphasis in accounting or finance.

7 - 10 years of work experience as a controller and/or VP position including managing a team of direct reports.

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, on the phone and in person. Remembers details and keeps excellent records.

Strong computer and software skills including Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and QuickBooks; and complex features as needed.

Strong sense of initiative and self-motivation and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Willingness to travel.

Preferred:Experience working with and knowledge of statewide resource partners, particularly funding partners such as certified development companies, regional foundations, and other state and local economic development organizations.
