+ Responsible for safety and well-being of slide participants.
+ Responsible for positioning self for optimal supervision of slide ladder and launch areas; manage timing of participants slide ladder ascent, check minimum height requirement, and launch into the slide.
+ Providing clear and consistent expectations for behavior; setting firm limits with positive phrasing and actions as necessary.
+ Working in conjunction with aquatics staff to promote safety first.
+ Following and enforcing all safety procedures, rules and regulations.
+ Being able to positively correct any unsafe pool activity immediately, every time, without exception.
+ Being knowledgeable and prepared to implement emergency procedures immediately.
+ Reporting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form and provide to supervisor within 24 hours of event.
+ Never leaving slide unattended.
+ Reporting any facility or equipment irregularities to supervisor, in writing.
+ Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of deck and other cleaning duties as assigned.
+ Attend all required training and scheduled meetings.
+ Maintaining good attendance and following procedures for tardies and absences.
+ Maintaining effective, positive relationships with members, participants, staff, and volunteers.
+ Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising efforts.
+ Other duties as assigned.
EFFECT ON END RESULT: Ensure compliance with Slide Monitor responsibilities in order maintain a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
+ Minimum age of 16
+ Must be able to frequently perform the following physical activities; climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk, lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and communicate verbally
+ Must be able to perform work both indoors and out and be exposed to prevalent weather c onditions
+ Must be able to visually see all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility
+ Must be able to adequately hear noises and distinguish distress signals
+ Must possess ability to remain alert and maintain concentration for long periods of time to ensure safety of participants
+ Must possess ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
+ Must be able to show initiative in the absence of supervision
+ Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
+ Must maintain a neat and professional appearance
+ Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
+ Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
+ Complete CPR/AED (or BLS/AED), and First Aid
+ Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
+ Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch; including evenings and weekends
Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the slide monitor will prevent accidents before they occur to promote the general safety of slid
