Position Overview:

This position is for a Crop Insurance Specialist who plays a vital support role for crop insurance agents by handling policy processing, quoting, and compliance tasks. This position ensures accuracy in policy documentation, assists with applications and renewals, and provides administrative support to agents to help them effectively serve their clients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about crop insurance regulations, and skilled in customer service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Policy Processing & Administration:

  • Assist agents in preparing, submitting, and processing crop insurance applications, renewals, and endorsements.

  • Verify accuracy of policy documents and ensure compliance with federal and company guidelines.

  • Maintain detailed records of client policies, changes, and claims.

  • Quoting & Coverage Support:

  • Generate accurate quotes for crop insurance policies using internal systems and rating tools.

  • Review farm operation details to ensure proper policy structuring.

  • Assist agents in explaining coverage options and premium calculations to clients.

  • Claims & Compliance Assistance:

  • Support agents in gathering necessary documentation for claims processing.

    • Ensure policies meet regulatory requirements and deadlines.
  • Stay updated on USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) and company policy changes.

  • Agent & Customer Support:

  • Respond to agent and client inquiries regarding policy details, coverage options, and deadlines.

  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and policy summaries.

  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and internal departments to resolve policy issues.

    Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, finance, or related field (preferred).

  • Experience in crop insurance, underwriting, or administrative support in an insurance setting.

  • Experience with MPCI, PRF, and private crop insurance products, required.

  • Familiarity with farm operations and risk management practices, required.

  • Insurance licensing or willingness to obtain relevant certification, required.

  • Precision Agriculture reporting with Climate Corp and My John Deere, preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

  • Proficiency in crop insurance processing software (e.g., EASYwriter, Precision Ag tools) and Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Understanding of federal crop insurance programs and compliance requirements.

  • Ability to work independently and support multiple agents.
