JOB TITLE:Engineer II, Staff, Senior or Lead Engineer REQUISITION ID: * NUC00BS *DEPARTMENT:Procurement Engineering LOCATION:Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station, Burlington, KS PAY RANGE: Engineer II: $81,000 - $101,200 - $121,400 Staff Engineer: $90,500 - $113,100 - $135,700 Sr Engineer: $91,600 - $122,100 - $152,600 Lead Engineer: $107,900 - $143,800 - $179,800 Principal Engineer: $112,500 - $150,000 - $187,500
Typical Schedule Work Hours and Working Conditions: •Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm (or 6:30 am to 5:00 pm) •Monday can work from home or on site. Tuesdays thru Thursday, expected to work on site. •A majority of work is done in office. Some plant walkdowns will be necessary. * * Job Duties: * This engineering position requires managing of the Obsolescence Program. Much of the equipment used within our Nuclear Plant is very aged, and has become obsolete. As additional obsolete equipment is identified, it must be reviewed and prioritized for resolution, in regards to both immediate needs of the plant and long term risk to the plant. Once prioritized and level of effort is understood to resolve, funding and resources must been obtained. The Obsolescence Program Owner will coordinate with other work groups to make this happen, as needed. * The Obsolescence Program Owner will be expected to obtain the required engineering skills and qualifications to perform some Procurement Engineering and Design Engineering tasks, in accordance with Wolf Creek process requirements, to address some obsolescence issues directly via short term bridging strategies or permanent solutions, in addition to tracking other projects being performed by other work groups for obsolescence issues. * Although not required, it is preferred for the Obsolescence Program Owner to have a mechanical engineering degree / background * Engineers are expected to have a general understanding of all aspects of the Nuclear Plant to ensure design requirements of the plant are maintained. It is a continuous learning opportunity.
Education and Experience Requirements: The Engineer II position requires a BS degree in Engineering and two years relevant experience. The Staff Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and four years relevant. The Senior Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and eight years of relevant experience and registered engineering in training (EIT) or board recognized industry certification preferred. The Lead Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and twelve years of relevant experience and a Kansas Professional Engineer License is preferred . Relevant experience for these positions is defined as professional level experience in engineering, engineering support or nuclear plant operations and support. The incumbent must possess engineering expertise related to the general area of assignment such as electrical, mechanical, civil, nuclear, etc. Curriculum must be accredited by the accreditation board for engineering and technology (ABET): Any other baccalaureate engineering curriculum that has not been accredited by ABET but has been evaluated and found to be of an equivalent standard that may be reviewed and accepted by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions is acceptable.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: •Must be detail oriented and have proficiency in learning use of new computer programs / databases, and proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets. •Must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel from various job backgrounds, ranging from accounting personnel, purchasing agents, other engineers, maintenance personnel, and operations personnel.
