JOB TITLE: Manager Scheduling REQUISITION: DIS00R9 DEPARTMENT: Distribution Power Delivery – Planning & Scheduling East – F&M Service Center LOCATION: Kansas City, MO PAY RANGE: $104,200 - $138,900 Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Job may require unscheduled work hours to support operations functions. Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Distribution Scheduling department is responsible for preparing weekly and daily schedules for the Distribution and Meter Operations departments. The Resource Schedulers are located at various locations across our territory. The Scheduling Manager will report to the Director Distribution Scheduling and Design. This role will lead our Distribution Scheduling team and the primary responsibilities will include the following: * Review budget and outlook guidance and direct schedulers to drive workload and resources accordingly. * Verify schedulers are preparing optimal schedules that are accurate, timely and fully utilize field resources. * Provide storm support for the distribution operations centers as needed. * Identify and develop scheduling process and system improvements. * Support company initiatives that affect scheduling. * Ensure we are meeting our internal and external customer required dates and commitments. * Develop and maintain scheduling metrics to drive improvements in productivity and efficiency. * Develop and maintain relationships with Distribution Operations, Meter Operations, IT, Project Management, Distribution Design and Line Construction. * Collaborate with Schedulers and Service Center Managers to understand workload needs for company crews and communicate that to the Project Management team during resource planning meetings.
* Stay abreast of trends in the utility industry around scheduling best practices and future scheduling software opportunities. * Understand corporate and distribution IT systems and how all the interfaces work for our scheduling processes. * Identify issues with the scheduling software or system integrations and work with the necessary parties to resolve timely. * Partner with IT and our scheduling software vendor to stay current on all upgrades and enhancements.

Education and Experience Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field and six years of related experience is highly preferred. Related experience includes background in construction and maintenance of distribution, substation or transmission assets and facilities. Prior scheduling and supervision experience is also preferred.

  • Business acumen and understanding of budgets and accounting and how to manage our resources to drive work accordingly to meet budget.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team, develop employees, and drive process improvement and change.
  • Strong administrative, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comprehensive skills in personal computer applications and a knowledge of Distribution and Meter Operations work systems.
  • Working knowledge of job types and assets being scheduled, and a good understanding of work and business processes impacted by scheduling work.
  • Ability to identify, recommend and tactically convey to others optimal work schedules for company and contractor resources utilizing analytical thinking, creative problem solving and sound reasoning.
  • Excellent organizational and time/priority management skills.
  • Self-starter who can work with little direction.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management and scheduling principles.
  • Ability to be perceptive, decisive, tactful, and assertive.
  • Ability to identify and resolve conflict, provide alternatives, and deal with pressure.
  • Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment and build relationships with all customers and work groups.

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions: Office and field working conditions will be required. May require work beyond normal hours and occasional overnight travel. Must have a satisfactory work record including excellent attendance.
