CHANUTE PUBLIC SCHOOLS HAS AN OPENING FOR A TRANSPORTATION RIDER/MONITOR

USD 413 is a great place to work for anyone who has school age children and would like to spend time with them over the summer months and school breaks during the year. USD 413 provides a payroll option for compensation to be spread over the course of 12 months to ensure you receive even checks throughout the school breaks or the summer months. Additional summer employment opportunities are available to add additional income as desired. USD 413 also provides a portion towards Employee Health Insurance premiums, a district paid Life Insurance policy and Sick and Personal leave.

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE:The job of the transportation rider/monitorof USD 413 is to assist the school bus/van driver in maintaining discipline while the vehicle is in operation; assist in maintaining proper records and documentation, assist student loading, unloading and seating arrangements as required, assist in making sure students board the proper vehicle and exit the vehicle at the proper stop.

PAY RATE: Set by the Board of Education

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Health and inoculation certificate on file in the
  • Desire to continue career improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in providing safe transportation to help students enjoy the complete educational program of the school district.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with members of the school district and community.
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Appropriately operate all equipment and machinery related to specific job duties.
  • Support the value of an education.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of USD #413.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, and reaching.
  • Requires climbing and balancing.
  • Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Occasionally must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make relationships with students the number one priority.
  • Assist, greet and direct students as they enter and exit the vehicle. Assist with seat belts/restraints as needed.
  • Develop relationships with students to provide for comfort and security.
  • Be in constant contact with and observation of students.
  • Use cell phones only for emergency purposes or contacting parents/guardians.
  • Be familiar with procedures for evacuations and assist with evacuations. (Practices or real!)
  • Help maintain proper noise control.
  • Assist in making sure students remain seated properly (facing the correct way) with seat belts/restraints (when applicable).
  • Be familiar with and reinforce rules.
  • Apply proper discipline measures for students not following directions.
  • Assist in monitoring students to make sure they are not eating or drinking in the vehicle.
  • Assist in making sure the aisle is always clear of objects and/or people.
  • Assist in making sure students get out at the correct stops and are released to proper parents/guardians if applicable.
  • Carry through with any additional rules requested by the driver or administration.
  • Be familiar with and enforce bus rules as set forth in USD 413s handbooks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
