CNA SUMMARY
Provides general care to residents in a long-term care facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations by performing the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties are determined by the facility and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides direct resident care such as assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, repositioning, and ambulation.
Takes vital signs
Provides restorative exercises.
Provides basic housekeeping and changing linen.
Provides preventative treatments as instructed by nurse.
Provides dining care.
Interacts with residents and family.
Computer documentation.
Follows Standard precautions.
Attends in-services.
Answers call lights and assist residents as needed.
Monitors residents and reports any variances from the normal to the nurse for further assessment.

Other qualifications:
Must have the desire to work with convalescent, geriatric or light psychiatric residents. Will assure that the residents rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. Must maintain confidentiality of residents and facility information.
EXPOSURE / RISK
The position carries risk for blood borne pathogen (BBP) exposure.
Must practice appropriate engineering and work practice controls, including standard precautions and hand hygiene.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended.
