Section A: Scope

Department: Fabrication

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Regular

Job Status: Full or Part-time

Work Schedule: Monday Friday, flexibility to work additional evenings and weekends and overtime as business needs dictate. (Two shift options may be available based on business needs)

Section B: Job Summary

Set up, operate, or tend computer-controlled lasers to process raw materials for parts manufacturing. Break/shake out parts from lasered materials.

Section C: Essential Functions

Notify supervisors of mechanical malfunctions.

Repair or replace worn or defective parts or components, using hand tools.

Adjust cutting techniques based on work order/ assignment.

Inspect machinery to determine whether repairs are needed.

Adjust machine controls such as tensions, or speeds, to produce specified products.

Inspect products to ensure that specifications are met and to determine whether machines require adjustment.

Confer with coworkers to obtain information about orders, processes, or problems.

Start machines, monitor operations, and make adjustments as needed.

Record information about work completed and machine settings.

Study guides, samples, charts, and specification sheets or confer with supervisors or engineering staff to determine set up requirements.

Operate machines for test runs to verify adjustments and to obtain product samples.

Stop machines when specified amounts of product have been produced.

Program electronic equipment.

Carry out assignments in accordance with production needs.

Perform duties with large machinery and equipment to include loading and unloading functions.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

All other duties as assigned.

Section D: Job Qualifications

Education: High school Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) : Required

Experience: 3 plus months of experience in laser or press brake operations in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent of education and experience.)

Other Requirements: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read and interpret tape measure.
