Certified Parent Peer SupportThis position consists of helping parents access new resources and practice new skills in the community for their children. Assist parent with education in identifying and effectively managing or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments with their child. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and self-identifies as a person with lived experience in raising a child with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), or co-occurring mental health diagnosis and meets the State of Kansas qualifications for Certified Parent Peer Support. Selected applicant will receive training and support in becoming certified through the State of Kansas.
This position is full time with some weekend hours expected.
Starting wage is \$15.71/hour.

WORK SCHEDULE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED and meets State of Kansas qualifications for Certified Parent Peer Support
Meets definitions of lived experience/active recovery as defined by State of Kansas Parent Peer Support requirements.
Possesses demonstrated interpersonal skills, the ability to work with parents/persons with or without mental illness, and the ability to react effectively in a wide variety of human service situations
Completion of required trainings upon hire
Practice from a person-centered model of care
Work independently and as a productive member of a team
Dependable vehicle, valid drivers license, and compliance with agencys liability carriers requirements may be required depending on job assignment
Communicate positively and effectively with others
Basic proficiency in math
Effective utilization of basic office technology
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred lived experience with the foster care system
Some weekend hours expected
You may be asked to sign a Patient as Provider Informed Consent Agreement prior to employment to acknowledge the potential risks of becoming a service provider of the Center from which you received services.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate competency in the following parent peer activities:
Promote connection and inspire hope
Assist parents in finding their childs path to progress/success
Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hope by drawing on ones recovery story, as appropriate.
Shares ones own recovery story and model successful behaviors and strategies for parents.
Help parents access new resources and practice new skills in the community for their children.
Visit community resources with parents using services to assist them in becoming familiar with potential opportunities for their children.
Interact with, support and share information with treatment team members and colleagues
Assist parents with enhancing or regaining the ability to make independent choices and taking a proactive role in their childs education and treatment including discussing questions or concerns about school, medications, diagnosis or treatment approaches with their childs clinician, educators and/or various health providers.
Help parents articulate in their own words their childs goals and aspirations in the development of their childs treatment plan.
Assist parent with education in identifying and effectively managing or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments with their child.
Share and support the use of recovery tools including establish ed and /or emerging best practices as defined by standards of care. Work with parents in one-on-one or in group settings.
Exhibit a nonjudgmental approach, effective listening, good eye contact, and positive interactions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Quantity: Meets billable visit and hour standards as defined by program requirements.
2. Clinical: Maintain updated training for Parent Peer Support certification. Assists parents in taking concrete steps towards self-empowerment, to help their children, through providing practical guidance that is based on lived experience.
