Position Title: Admissions Counselor Reports To: Director of Admissions Type of Contract: Full-Time, Professional Services Length of Contract: 260 days 12 months Date of Position Description: June 2024 The administration may change the duties at any time.

GENERAL NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: The Admissions Counselor is responsible for assisting the Director of Admissions in implementing the institutional plan for recruiting students. A bachelors degree is preferred. Experience in a field related to admissions, student personnel services, or marketing preferred. The essential functions of this position include: (1) high level of communication skills; (2) a command of problem solving and decision making skills; (3) interpersonal skills; (4) excellent telephone skills; (5) computer skills; (6) the ability to meet and converse with groups of people; and (7) the ability and willingness to engage in seasonal, daily travel (minimal overnight) on behalf of the College. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Admissions Counselor will:

1. discharge effectively and efficiently the duties and responsibilities that are assigned to this administrative position: such duties may include but are not limited to: (1) the supervision and development of personnel assigned to the Office of Admissions; (2) the collection and dissemination of data and information; (3) the promotion of communications within the College community and the community-at-large; (4) the participation in appropriate committees and work groups; (5) the participation in planning and decision making; (6) the application of institutional and governmental policies, procedures, and regulations; and (7) the completion of other administrative responsibilities as appropriate or as assigned:

2. visit various high schools under the supervision of the Director of Admissions for the purpose of recruiting and counseling prospective students and promoting the College;

3. administer those procedures necessary to ensure the processing of

student contacts;

4. attend College planning conferences throughout Kansas;

5. utilize the telephone, e-mail, and texting in the recruitment process;

6. attend, under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, career fairs, and other special events;

7. conduct campus tours;

8. work with diverse populations; 9. interact cordially with coworkers to accomplish common tasks; and

10. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only

Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by their supervisor. This job description may be revised upon development of other duties and changes in responsibilities.
