Panasonic North America Metrology Supervisor (PECNA) in De Soto, Kansas

Overview

The Metrology Supervisor will work together with the Operations, Engineering and Maintenance in maintaining measuring equipment and gauges in the manufacturing processes and resolving any nonconforming conditions.

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory located in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.

Position Summary: The Metrology Supervisor will work together with the Operations, Engineering and Maintenance in maintaining measuring equipment and gauges in the manufacturing processes and resolving any nonconforming conditions.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervise a team of quality calibration technicians.

  • Assign and monitor daily calibration tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

  • Develop and manage the calibration schedule for all measuring equipment.

  • Ensure all equipment complies with industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025 or NIST traceability)

  • Maintain and update calibration records in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure all calibration activities align with internal quality standards and external regulations.

  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and support.

  • Investigate and resolve nonconformance issues related to metrology.

  • Monitor the performance and condition of all M&TE, recommending repairs or replacements as necessary.

  • Evaluate and source new calibration tools and software as necessary.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in calibration activities.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of calibration procedures, certificates, and test results.

  • Generate and maintain Key Performance Indicators for calibration performance.

  • Coordinate with external service providers for specialized calibration needs.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or a minimum of 2 years of quality, production, or manufacturing experience.

  • Preferred: Associate degree in technical or business field.

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in calibration or metrology.

  • Working knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS).

  • Familiarity with metrology standards (ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, NIST).

  • Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s production processes.

  • Conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Proven agility in all levels of work processes.

  • Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Collaborative nature with strong team building skills and willing to learn from and accept guidance from others.

  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Certification(s):

  • ASQ Certification (ASQ Certified Calibration Technician)
