Overview

The OHS Manager is responsible for implementing OHS programs and initiatives in support of PECNA’s battery production. The Manager will work directly with production mangers, supervisors, EHS technicians, safety champions, consultants, and vendors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk by implementing best practices within PECNA’s integrated management system.

Position Summary: The OHS Manager is responsible for implementing OHS programs and initiatives in support of PECNA’s battery production. You will play a key role in the day-to-day operations in the production process, driving safety on the production floor. This individual must be able to manage and coach teams and drive company OHS Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The Manager will work directly with production mangers, supervisors, EHS technicians, safety champions, consultants, and vendors to maintain compliance and mitigate risk by implementing best practices within PECNA’s integrated management system.

Essential Duties:

  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the PECNA organization.

  • Coach and influence OHS team members and production safety teams(s) driving a High-Performance Safety Culture.

  • Assess and evaluate process and day-to-day activities on the production floor and guide production safety teams in safe practices and adoption of best practices.

  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety risks within the production area.

  • Technical consultant/subject matter expert for OHS programs such as LOTO, Machine Guarding, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Laboratory Safety and Radiation Safety.

  • Review, participate, and coach teams in effective investigations. Ensure appropriate root cause analysis has been conducted and corrective actions have been identified and implemented.

  • Participate in safety committee meetings and take steps to address or mitigate issues.

  • Conduct and review risk assessments. Evaluate equipment design and suggest modifications and safety improvements.

  • Collect and analyze data using commercial or in-house platforms. Effectively communicate information to verify compliance and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Assist with industrial hygiene to identify and control physical, chemical, and biological hazards in the workplace.

  • Assist OHS with revisions to programs, policies, workplace instructions, guidance documents, and training assist with the implementation of 6S in production areas.

  • Working alone or with cross-discipline team members, complete projects to both improve processes in existing production lines and install/commission new production capacity.

  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate reports and permitting requirements as needed.

  • Interact and support at all organizational levels, both internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to add value to the organization.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by OHS leader.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education

  • Basic/Required: High School Diploma

  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field or 10 years of manufacturing experience with role in regulatory compliance can be substituted.

Essential Qualifications

  • 10 years of manufacturing experience along with experience in a regulatory compliance related role. Ability to draft programs, policies, permit within software packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Supervisory Experience.

  • Certified Safety Professional
