The Senior Director of Technology oversees all technological aspects within the Gigafactory's IT and OT domains, fostering cross-functional collaboration, leading a resource team, providing support for digital services, and ensuring secure, efficient infrastructure and applications.

We are seeking resolute individuals to join us as full-time, on-site team members at our new, state-of-the-art factory found in the thriving city of DeSoto, Kansas.

Reporting directly to the CIO, the Sr. Director of Technology will lead all aspects of technology within the IT and OT areas of the Gigafactory. Working cross-functionally across Gigafactory’s, this role will ensure the strategy for North America is implemented and adhered to within the Gigafactory. This role will lead and develop our inhouse, and managed resource, team of technical resources to deliver our technology roadmap, keep and support our digital services to business partners and manage the transition to our new platforms. The role requires experience in agile delivery management, resource and capacity management both of internal teams and external resources and suppliers to build skills and capacity, where needed. The role will ensure that we have, fit for purpose, secure efficient and innovative infrastructure and applications to support the needs of the organization and our customers.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible and accountable for the uninterrupted daily operations of all technology systems in support of the 24x7x365 operations of the new DeSoto, Kansas gigafactory

  • Provide overall technical leadership and direction to the Gigafactory and the technology team, encouraging controlled innovation and improvement in the technology and data systems, processes and ways of working.

  • Accountable for the technical assurance of our inhouse Key Objectives and Responsibilities and outsourced platforms and services, always ensuring we maximize value for money in internal and external development and service management.

  • Further develop our capability, processes and team structures in managing change, agile software development and rapid deployment, cyber security, data management and service management Delivery and assurance

  • Ensure that the North American vision and delivery plan for the PECNA technology and digital services transformation is communicated to all business functions and that ongoing delivery is transparent and well-communicated across the group.

  • Accountable for the technical assurance of inhouse solutions and the solutions and services from outsourced suppliers and contractors Service Management. Ensure that our key technology services are resilient, secure and scalable and that our cyber security, software development, support processes and systems are constantly improved in line with our ISO27001 roadmap.

  • Collaborate with North American and Japanese counterparts ensuring best of class solutions are shared and/or adopted within the global technology group.

  • Be initiative-taking in planning, managing risks, identifying and addressing wider opportunities and threats, and using data to inform decisions and improve contributions to business planning and reporting.

  • Managing the overall Technology Group budget, as per business plan, for the Gigafactory

  • Empower and develop the staff you manage to innovate and improve while maximizing their contribution by setting clear goals, coaching, delegating and providing appropriate feedback, and effectively managing performance, ensuring they get the necessary training and development needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Needed and/or Preferred

Education:

  • Basic/Needed: bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or a related field from a four-year College or University

  • Preferred: Advance degree preferred

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in global business manufacturing company

  • Over 5 years of experience in a management role, with a track record of leadership success

  • Client-driven and business sensitive attitude.

  • Knowledge of integrated IT/OT systems, processes and platforms that include, but not limited too, SAP, MES, PLM, SCADA

  • Solid understanding of network and data architecture concepts and applications

  • Issue tracking & resolution with organized skilled knowledge-based approach

  • Earlier experience managing large OPEX and CAPEX budgets to business plan.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of business and IT management

  • Ability to create international people, process, and policy constructive collaboration.

  • Ability to influence and persuade management for supplying business proper IT solutions.

  • Ability to create and present electronic and spoken presentations.

  • Solid Excellent teamwork and people skills

  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing complex project teams including outsourced and IT shared services.

  • Experience in business process re-engineering of systems application

  • Experience in managing budgets and financial expectations (ROI analysis)

  • Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure.
