To provide leadership and accountability in the strategic and daily operations of the clinical service. Developing and maintains excellent physician and associate relations, accountable for the quality of patient care provided by the nursing service. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all functions of the service to include quality, administrative, and financial outcomes.

Oversees the delivery of patient care and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service and the nursing professional practice as a whole. Assure achievement of department, nursing division and hospital goals as well as adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies. May provide leadership over other departments that collaborate with nursing for care of the patients served.

Span of control 250 head count and/or specialty alignment. May carry between 4 to 6 leaders as direct reports. Between 4 to 8 cost centers reporting. Reports to CNO/VP Patient Care Services.

This role will be over St Catherine in Dodge City and St Catherine in Garden City, but the position will sit at St Catherine Hospital in Dodge City.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

Education required:

  • 4 years progressive clinical leadership experience required; 5 years preferred.

  • 2 years clinical experience in labor and delivery

  • Experience in acute care preferred.

  • BSN required

  • MSN required

License/Certifications Required:

  • Active and unencumbered RN license to practice in Kansas

  • Nursing Specialty Certification- Required Sit within 6 months; Must achieve within 1 year of hire or transfer to the role.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/BLS through AHA)

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Schedule: 8am-5pm; Monday - Friday
