Purpose: Provide to El Dorado USD 490 families research-based information, support, and encouragement to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life, prenatal and birth to 5 years.

Payment rate: Commensurate with Experience & Education According to Classified Salary Schedule


+ Bachelor's Degree.

+ Two years previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents preferred.

+ Successful completion of National PAT certification as a parent educator (provided by the district)

+ Experience in using various computers and computer programs.

+ Valid driver’s license.

+ Desire to work with young children and their families and to continue career improvement.

+ Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made).

+ Provide professional research-based parent instruction and delivery of information to El Dorado district families, implementing the PATNC curriculum.

+ Demonstrate appropriate educational activities.

+ Coordinate child developmental screenings, including, but not limited to, vision, hearing, language development, fine and gross motor development, social-emotional development, health and physical development for children, birth to 36 months.

+ Coordinate services with other community programs with similar purposes.

+ Represent El Dorado USD 490 at various community events supporting families and/or young children.

+ Ensure all activities conform to district guidelines.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

+ Requires some local travel; reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed).

+ Must be able to work in noisy, crowded environments with young children and their families

+ Must be able to support El Dorado PAT program’s 12-month calendar year and occasional evening and weekend appointments.

General Responsibilities:

+ Attend required certification training and become certified as a parent educator.

+ Implement the Foundational curriculum provided by PATNC.

+ Follow guidelines as outlined by the PAT Handbook and USD #490 El Dorado Support Staff Handbook

+ Serve assigned families with a minimum of 9 home visits per year per family, plan and lead group meetings, attend monthly required staff meetings, accurately and promptly maintain necessary paperwork required by national and state PAT office.

+ Coordinate services with other community programs with similar purposes; make recommendations for further screenings, evaluations, etc.


+ Support and enhance play groups, parent group meetings, parent-child field trips, community events involving PAT (health fairs, speaking engagements, etc.)

+ Complete and submit all required program evaluation and financial reports requested by program coordinator.

+ Accurately, thoroughly, and promptly complete all required documentation regarding personal visits, attendance records for PAT events, screening summaries, and other reports reques
