With a site mission of developing effective partnerships to maintain equipment safely and reliably in a qualified state and drive improvements to reduce manufacturing losses, this role will provide reliability and maintenance coordination for the building (1 manufacturing plant and building 2 process development labs) in Elwood, KS.

This position’s main responsibility is to provide technical maintenance support for daily activities and troubleshooting for operations and maintenance. The reliability engineer will also identify opportunities for continuous improvement including waste reduction, efficiency gains, and improved capability. They will work closely with the MRO/planner to assist in scheduling. This role will also include the improvement and on-going management of the Maintenance Program revolving around safety & environmental, quality, maintenance performance, operations support, and people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety - With our goal to pursue an injury free workplace, minimize our environmental impact, and improve safety performance and awareness, responsibilities include:

  • Aids in coordination of contractor daily activities as needed (safety plans, lock outs, permits).

  • Provide support through the CMMS (SAP or Faciliworks) process to address any safety or environmental concern.

  • Ensure compliance with all GMPs and Safety PMs. Provides support in incident reporting, investigations, deviations or corrective measures (CAPAs).

Quality - Operate in a continuous state of compliance and improve our Quality of Maintenance Execution, as well as look to become more effective and efficient with our processes, including:

  • Follows GQS (Global Quality Standards) and maintenance procedures.

  • Maintain high level of coordination and execution (0 overdue PMs and calibrations).

  • Maintain a minimum backlog, ensuring the craft utilization of time and daily documentation of work performed – plan the backlog for all work both planned PM’s and unplanned work orders.

Maintenance Performance - Through effective resource utilization and continuous improvement, we will become a profit center for Animal Health Manufacturing by reducing losses, improving equipment reliability, and lowering Maintenance costs.

  • Support CMMS (SAP or Faciliworks) including PM plan creation and job plans, spare parts requests, asset swaps, equipment identification, equipment criticality determination, functions specification, mechanical integrity and other functions as needed.

  • Support for process engineering and major maintenance projects including support for equipment vendors and coordination for operations work orders and PMs.

  • Conduct root cause failure analysis, failure mode effect analysis, maintenance strategies, and other various continuous improvement efforts related to reliability and maintenance of the area.

  • Initiate and implement deviations and change controls as needed.

Maintenance/Operational Department Support - We will use a controlled process for work execution (Planning & Scheduling w/ Priority Response) in order to maintain the equipment in a qualified state and support operational objectives for providing product to patients.

  • Planning & Scheduling Compliance. Plan work orders (order parts, schedule and ensure completion).

  • Assess maintenance requests, prioritize and coordinate with maintenance staff, scheduling and contractors as needed.

  • Follow-up on departmental maintenance activities, assure completion, tracking of emergency repairs.

  • Enter appropriate work orders or initiate further action based on predictive maintenance results work with scheduling to coordinate activities during planned downtime.

  • Engineering Support support for Projects & Design.

  • Provide training on equipment to operators in regard to preventative care and maintenance.

  • Review and modify SOPs, job plans and task lists as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or High School Diploma and relevant work experience.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and how it is applied to manufacturing and facility equipment.

  • Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience pharmaceutical or biopharma, preferably.

  • GMP experience.

  • Ability to organize and plan maintenance work, both internal and external.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally at all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, set objectives and meet targets.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level customer service.

  • Actively willing to attend and participate in process team huddles and reviews.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment (PPE) in production and manufacturing support areas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP EAM experience.

  • Previous Coordination/Planning experience.

  • Maintenance background and aptitude.

  • Pharmaceutical and biopharma maintenance experience.

  • Relocation provided for eligible candidates

  • Shift: Day Shift.

  • Must be willing to work off-hours, weekends and holidays to support the business as needed.

  • Must be willing to respond to off-hour emergencies when necessary.

  • Travel: Minimal < 5%

  • Post offer Requirements: Completion of Post Offer Exam (POE), Completion of Work Simulation (SIM) or Completion of Administrative Skills Testing if applicable.
