Stormont-Vail Healthcare Clinical Manager in Emporia, Kansas

The Clinical Manager is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of clinical activities in the department. These include but are not limited to utilization of skills in organization, leadership, planning, implementing, evaluating and providing care as it relates to the age and specific needs to the patient. Works within the framework of the State Nurse Practice Act and follows all hospital and clinic policies and procedures. Complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities. Supports the goals and objectives of the Clinic.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Direct Patient Care Services:

  • Collaborates with other health care providers and acts as a patient advocate.

  • Clinical resource to staff for:

  • questions regarding patient triage and appropriate nursing intervention

  • accessing and implementing policies pertaining to urgent patient care (i.e. needle exposure, abuse/neglect, suicide/homicide)

  • incident reporting for patients/visitors/staff

  • Educates and precepts new staff

  • Coordinates annual staff competency training and completion. Develops appropriate competencies and reviews to keep current with best practice

  • Conducts chart audits, reviews adherence to standard workflows

  • Develops learning opportunities to mitigate gaps in employee performance

    Performance Improvement

  • Develop standard work for clinic improvement

  • Assists with implementation and adherence to daily management expectations

  • Coordinates A3 activities

  • Develops daily management boards, to include working with offices to collect data, updating metrics, and coaching staff and providers in their use

Communication

  1. Demonstrates excellent understanding and use of the EMR; serves as the superuser for both Epic and Cadence applications: communicates with and educates staff and providers regarding EMR changes and optimization opportunities

  2. Demonstrates effective communication skills in interactions with clinic staff, physicians, hospital departments, patients, employers and caregivers.

  3. Written documentation is clear, concise and completed in a timely manner.

Health and Safety

  • Adheres to infection control, emergency, safety, fire and disaster plans and policies, completing required initial training and updates per hospital policy.

  • Demonstrates consistent use of Standard Precautions and proper body mechanics and follows OSHA guidelines

  • Provides for a safe work environment, which is conducive to and complies with all state and federal guidelines.

Leadership

  • Collaborates with Nurse Manager to provide daily management of clinic operations

  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills to manage the day-to-day clinical operations.

  • Actively engages in staff development providing general in-services as well as working with staff on an individual basis.

    Administration

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein.

  • Demonstrates appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care and department activities in accordance with the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act.

Education/Experience:

Graduate from a school of nursing, BSN preferred. One year of experience in a clinic or acute care setting required.

Certificates and Licenses:

Current RN licensure in the State of Kansas or has applied for reciprocity in Kansas. BLS certification is required.
