Job Purpose

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Factory Focused Manager will be responsible and accountable for the success of the process. The Factory Focused Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all aspects of manufacturing processes in accordance with company objectives and operating budgets to satisfy safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

Summary

The Factory Focused Manager will lead a cross functional team that includes all team members, team leaders, group leaders, quality, maintenance, engineering, production planning, and continuous improvement.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an effective organization through the selection, training, and motivation of all personnel.

  • Directs the cross functional, customer-focused team in the preparation and implementation of operating plans and strategies consistent with business objectives/plans.

  • Develops plans to use the facilities, equipment, and personnel to meet current and future manufacturing requirements including department budgets and guidelines, plant layout and improvements, and capital expenditure programs.

  • Evaluates, develops, and implements processes to improve manufacturing performance, structured know-how, and costs.

  • Manages the production reporting system for the specified area to ensure accurate information for inventory and manufacturing cost controls.

  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with the customers, corporate support functions (sales, engineering, program management, purchasing) employees, and departments that support the manufacturing process.

  • Provides, implements, and administers timely quality assurance and engineering control functions to ensure product reliability and conformance to customer and federal specifications in the most effective and economical manner possible.

  • Manages the area with the appropriate communication of goals, performance feedback, correction active, and rewards and recognition to provide optimum employee relations.

  • Properly supports or participates in all EH&S activities programs, initiatives, and functions

  • Assures compliance with Company and Plant policies, health and safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and good housekeeping practices

  • Participate in decisions relating to mechanical and electrical systems, selection of materials and design of items to be fabricated and installed.

Person Specification

Individual must be a:

  • Citizen of the United States, or

  • Permanent resident alien of the United States, or

  • Protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

    Education and experience - Minimum level of education and experience required:

  • BS degree in engineering. (Ceramic, chemical, electrical, mechanical, textile, industrial, or polymer & fibre).

  • 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting

  • Experienced in equipment management and facilitating maintenance activities and scheduled shutdowns. Experience working within a high paced environment, previous supervisory/management experience a plus. Lean manufacturing experience also a plus. Work experience in a behavior-based safety environment.

  • Possess superior organization, communications, presentation skills, critical thinking, EQ, Ability to perform as a Leader and Collaborator and the ability to communicate comfortably at all levels of the organization

  • Experience operating in ERP systems

  • Advanced MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management and good report writing and data analysis skills

Physical Requirements: Must be capable of sitting and using a computer for a considerable portion of an 8-hours workday. Must be capable of walking throughout the facility and property to check on employees and equipment. Must be able to physically wear personal protective equipment such as, but limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and steel toe boots.
