Medical Director


Position summary:


The medical director leads an integrated team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, behavioral health consultants, and other medical professionals in a patient centered medical home setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:


+ Provides the vision and oversight for the delivery of integrated comprehensive care that is both evidence-based and high quality by leading a multi-disciplinary team.


+ Is a highly competent provider within their designated area of practice.


+ Will collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the senior leadership team to further FHCHC’s mission, and to optimize patient care, access, and patient satisfaction.


+ Develop and maintain key partnerships internally as well as within the community and medical community in the areas served.


+ Have a commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.


+ Have an in-depth financial understanding of budget, performance, goal setting, staffing models and the impact on strategic initiatives.


+ Ability to inspire staff to improve and grow.


+ Identify and manage changes necessary to further the mission of FHCHC.


+ The Medical Director is responsible for the Quality Assurance/Improvement (QI/QA) Program:


+ Supervises, manages, and ensures completion of all health care initiatives and projects within the organization.


+ Responsible for QA/QI reports, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Certification, Accountable Care Organization (ACO), and Uniform Data System (UDS) results in collaboration with Chief Operations Officer (COO).


+ Directs and supervises the activities and functions of the QA/QI program including any follow up needed.


+ Collaborates with the leadership ream to develop objective and meaningful quality goals and outcomes relative to each department.


+ Monitor’s quality standards associated with State and Federal grant requirements.


+ Develops, initiates, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities.


+ Maintains a program of culturally competent, high quality integrated care which includes preventive care, acute care, chronic disease, and community health.


+ Provides management and oversight for a highly productive team of medical providers.


+ Provides direct patient care.


+ Monitors the clinics’ appointment schedules to maintain maximum access to patient care as possible.


+ Continually explore and deploy updated evidence-based tools and practices in health care.


+ Assist in developing patient education programs.


+ Responsible for supervision of key clinical staff including serving as a collaborating physician.


+ Ensures staffing for appropriate care coverage during clinic hours.


+ Lead monthly staff provider meetings.


+ Oversees the recruitment, support, and retention of FHCHC clinical staff.
