Summary/Objective:\ Teach English as a Second Language (ESL) and Adult Literacy and have the ability as needed to teach civics, employment skills, and other adult education subjects. Assist learners to be well prepared for the workplace and for post-secondary education. Provide functional support to all NexStep ESL staff. Plan for and provide one-on-one, small group, and/or large group instruction based on student goals and assessment data. Maintain accurate records. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwills mission.\ \ Skills and Knowledge:\ In-depth education curriculum and instruction knowledge pertaining to English as a second language, effective classroom management and policy enforcement, lesson planning, classroom monitoring, instructor and student advocacy, strategic planning, educational policy creation and implementation, effective communication skills, modern technology skills, conflict resolution skills, instructor hiring recommendations, instructor training.

Essential Functions:

• Support and sustain a program culture conducive to adult learning and professional growth
• To assist students to reach levels of educational proficiency necessary to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
• Provide a quality classroom learning environment for NexStep students
• Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
• To provide functional support for NexStep ESL instructors to ensure adequate staffing levels, professional development, and implementation of evidence-based educational practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate and assist education service staff, students, parents/guardians and applicants on the telephone and/or in person.
• Assist in training new ESL Adjunct Instructors to ensure adequate staffing levels, professional development, and implementation of evidence-based educational practices are implemented and sustainable.
• Work with students from various backgrounds and with a wide range of abilities and English-fluency skills.
• Assist managing the adult literacy program implementation, integration and creation.
• Provide input to strategic planning, policy decisions, and policy implementation/enforcement.
• Help students develop work habits such as attendance, punctuality, attentiveness, cooperation, appropriateness of dress, behavior, and interpersonal interactions.
• Track attendance and student progress and develop necessary reports.
• Maintenance of all records and files as required.
