Summary/Objective:\ Reporting to NexStep Alliance Director, the Adult Education Instructor will teach math, reading, and other English Language Acquisition and adult education subjects as needed to prepare learners to pass the GED exam and be well prepared for the workplace and for post-secondary education. Apply differentiation techniques, small group strategies, independent learning, and a problem-solving approach. Plan for and provide one-on-one, small group, and/or large group instruction based on student goals and assessment data. Assess student ability, develop student educational plans, and provide guidance. Maintain accurate records. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwills mission.\ \ Skills and Knowledge:\ A high level of competence is required in the following areas: adult education curriculum and instruction, adult testing procedures, adult education, pedagogy, student educational advising and advocacy. Must be able to successfully navigate local workforce/community partnerships
Essential Functions:
- Support and sustain a program culture conducive to adult learning and professional growth.
- Instruct students in the English Language, Language Arts, Math, Science and/or Social Studies.
- Assist, support, and advise students as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate and assist education service staff, students, parents and applicants on the telephone and/or in person.
- Provide input to strategic planning, policy decisions, and policy implementation/enforcement
- Help students develop work habits such as attendance, punctuality, attentiveness, cooperation, appropriateness of dress, behavior, and interpersonal interactions.
- Provide the necessary contracts, forms, supportive services, and documentation in an efficient and timely manner.
- Track attendance and student progress and develop necessary reports.
- Maintenance of all records and files as required.
