Summary About the Position: This a Human Resource Assistant (Military) position located at the US Army Garrison, Military Personnel Division, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. You will perform a variety of both procedural and substantive clerical work related to military records and personnel processing. Responsibilities Determine appropriate primary and secondary military occupational specialty codes to process military personnel actions. As a Human Resources Assistant, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Perform a complete review of records to ensure all updates are accurately reflected in human resources systems. Screen list of officers and enlisted soldiers eligible for promotion based on date of ranks and schedule of promotion boards. Research and provide explanations regarding rules, procedures, and requirements to military employees. Interact with military members to provide explanations regarding regulations, processes and procedures regarding reassignment and promotions. Specialized Experience required: One year of specialized experience which includes experience accomplishing routine tasks to support various HR functions, utilizing office automation software to create documents and/or reports and providing customer service. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
