About the Position: This position is located at the U.S Army Sustainment Command, Logistic Readiness Center, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Responsibilities Operate forklifts capable of lifting up to 30,000 pounds and with a lifting height more than 168 inches to load, unload, and stack/ unstack palletized goods, crates, merchandise, materials and supplies. Receives stock from assembly area to include weapons and ammunition. Organize storage operations to maintain a neat warehouse environment. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision. Which includes 1) receiving, storing and shipping a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and 2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Warehouse work, requires prolonged standing on hard surfaces, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, positions and carries supplies and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds and, occasionally, up to 100 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering and tilting the loads being moved. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from, falling objects, collisions, shifting loads, overturning. Hearing protective devices and/or other protective devices and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to the hazardous condition(s). Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job and do not meet criteria for compensation by environmental or hazard pay. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position.
