Summary About the Position: This is a TERM not to exceed 13 months Motor Vehicle Operator position with the Logistics Readiness Center, Ft. Leavenworth, KS. May be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment or TERM appointment. See "Additional Information" section for more details. Responsibilities Drive a five-ton truck tractor combination, gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds to transport materials and supplies. Receive, unload and process incoming property. Issue property and processes the supporting documentation to customers. Operate a forklift capable of lifting up to 15,000 pounds to load and upload materials. Operate gasoline or diesel powered vehicles capable to carrying loads weighing up to 32,000 pounds.Operate a fork lift to move, stack, unstack, load, and unload materials and equipment. Warehousing duties and general maintenance of the warehouse facilities require standing, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying equipment and materials. Driver duties require operating vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads, and exposure to the dangers of serious accidents. Drives in heavy traffic and at high speeds over complicated roads and interstate systems. Warehouse duties are performed inside the warehouse, in open storage areas and on receiving docks. Areas may be cold, drafty, damp or hot. May be exposed to injury from handling materials. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Career Program (CP) 24 - Transportation and Distribution Management position. You may claim military spouse preference (MSP). This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not-to-exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition, contingent upon the incumbent's non-competitive eligibility. Employee may have return rights back to their permanent position of record or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay. This position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
