About the Position: This is a Transportation Assistant (Personal Property), GS-2102-5/6/7 position with the 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. Responsibilities Counsel members on the entitlements and responsibilities related to shipment and storage of personal property, household goods, and privately owned vehicles. Determine best mode of transportation based upon special circumstances, desires of the shipper and government expense. Compute constructive cost for Personally Procured Move (PPM). Plan shipping details (i.e. dates, material pick up and loading times). Advise customers on special movement options for Personally Procured Move (PPM), mobile homes, boats and vehicles. Ensure compliance with weight restrictions and foreign clearance of personal property. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) advising customers on what items to inventory; 2) maintaining records using an automated system; AND, 3) answering questions on procedures to ship property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) processing applications for personal property shipment; 2) preparing documents for authorized entitlements; AND 3) entering and/or retrieving personal property data from automated databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) advise on personal property shipping entitlements; 2) review shipping documents for accuracy; AND 3) entering or retrieving personal property data in automated databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
