U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Visual Information Specialist in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

Summary About the Position: Serves as the Visual Information Specialist and Section Chief in the Visual Information Branch of the for the Army University Press, the Army University's publishing enterprise which consists of Military Review in English, Spanish, and Portuguese; Combat Studies Institute; the NCO Journal; and the Army's staff ride team. NOTE: TELEWORK - This position is eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework". Responsibilities As a Visual Information Specialist, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Serves as principal subject matter specialist on all visual information related activities for all components of the Army University Press, CSI Press books, the English and Foreign Language (Spanish and Portuguese), editions of Military Review. Plans all visual information projects for Army University Press, and material generated to support a staff of 15 book journal editors and writers. Participates in the development of immediate and long term plans. Provides input and counsel to management officials in developing policies, directives, and standard operating procedures. Responsible for planning and designing a wide variety of original artwork from initial planning stage through final production. Creates illustrations for brochures, pamphlets, booklets, covers, slides/viewgraphs, etc. from verbal or written instructions. Provides graphic layout support for the English language Military Review edition; and for other Army University Press journals, as required. Produces galley and layout copies of articles for print editions and separate online content. Design content in html, pdf and flash formats to aid visitors in finding and submitting content. Updates web analytic code in website and creates reports on web trends about visitors and content. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience creating original visual information products using graphic design programs AND developing designs that communicate information through a variety of media publications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media Computer Skills Creative Thinking Creativity and Innovation Multimedia Technologies Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. *All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
