Duties and Responsibilities
Produce machined components to specifications by studying sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information
Operate manual engine lathe
Maintain equipment by keeping machine and work area clean
Maintain continuity between co-workers
Use material moving equipment
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers
Read and interpret shop work instructions and shop procedures
Review quality issues with quality assurance, manufacturing support, and engineering to resolve quality issues and take corrective action as required
Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used for machining work
Measure, examine and test completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Considerable knowledge of raw materials, productions processes and quality control
Welding knowledge is a plus
Use of both hands to manually move parts and function equipment
Must be able to stand, crouch, bend for 8 hour shifts
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
Must be able to see (naturally or with correction)
The ability to speak clearly and communicate with others
Basic mathematical skills
Any machine shop knowledge
Knowledge of basic functions of manual lathe
Familiarity with lathe tooling
Use measuring instruments
Proficient in blueprint reading
Excellent time management skills
Strong attention to detail
Other Requirements
Successfully pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Criminal Background, Physical Exam, Customer Security Check, E-Verify, Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable), other assessments (if applicable)
Attendance – Must be available when scheduled for work
Must be able to use time effectively and productively
