JOB TITLE: Transportation Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB: Communicate and collaborate with all parties involved in supply chain process to ensure timely delivery of goods via sound carrier selection and scheduling strategies.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Communicate with carriers and follow up with all interested parties in regard to special needs or critical shipments for delivery to customer.
Maintain data for logistic routing/rating software.
Problem solving in fast pace environment as logistic and carrier issues arise. Investigate, ascertain root cause and make appropriate decision to resolve.
Advise new carriers as to distribution expectations, procedures and policies.
Develop new supply chain and routing process improvements and procedures, present to management as appropriate, implement and train other distribution personnel.
All other tasks as assigned by management.
- Route by the optimal carrier for all modes of transportation (OB/IB) when Coleman is responsible for charges to minimize transportation costs, reduce exposure to customer supply chain penalties and maximize customer’s satisfaction through timely delivery of shipments. If collect, ensure proper interpretation and adherence to customer’s carrier selection guidelines to avoid customer non-compliance penalties.
- Determine most effective shipment date to meet customer delivery criteria while maintaining appropriate workload levels for warehouse shipping floor.
Ensure proper execution of various processes for timely and accurate invoicing to customer.
Assist drivers, warehouse personnel and security as needed.
Ensure DOT Haz Mat certification verification for all carriers hauling any Haz Mat loads is current and recorded as required.
Ensure accurate completion of all carrier paperwork.
Issue Return Authorization to carriers for refused freight.
Manage Carrier’s trailer inventory for accuracy & good repair.
Publish reports as requested.
File all freight claims as required.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED, some college preferred
3 to 5 years previous experience in distribution or transportation.
Working knowledge of transportation terminology, industry standards and procedures a plus.
Independent decision making and problem solving skills in high volume/activity work environment.
Must possess highly effective oral and written communicative skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be fluent in English.
Must be proficient in MicroSoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). SAP experience a plus.
