This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/ada/r/jobs/11372511 Assist with inspection and repairs of transmission lines and substation sites under the direct supervision of a journey or higher level Line Technician.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESTransmission LinesAssist with performing field inspections of property and equipment to include, but not limited to, identifying sagging/damaged transmission lines on 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 230kV, and 345kV lines; broken/missing insulators; damaged, broken, or unstable poles or cross arms; and any other potential problems or hazards related to line equipment.Perform assigned maintenance, repair, or replacement of all overhead transmission hot line equipment, cross arms, insulators, and auxiliary equipment on poles and structures. Assist transmission line crew and ensure the locations are safe for authorized personnel.Assist with framing poles, installing pole top assemblies, and installing air break switch assemblies.Operate required heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner under direct supervision.Ensure that self and others safely and effectively climb poles, set and align poles, string and sag conductors on poles and structures, dig pole holes, install and anchor poles, make up and install guys, install gin poles, and use block and tackle and other rigging equipment. Assist with framing poles, installing pole top assemblies, and installing air break switch assemblies.Assist with emergency work to restore service in adverse weather conditions and respond, as needed, during off hours for such emergency work.Substation SitesAssist with performing field inspections of substations to identify substation property and equipment that is broken or unstable or have unkempt grounds that could hide hazards or conditions that would otherwise be unsafe, inefficient, or unsightly.Assist with the installation and removal of breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, voltageand current transformers (CTs), and capacitor banks; installation and adjustment of gangoperatedair break and motor operated switches; and construction of steel A-frames, steel Hframes,switch stands, bus supports, and physical steel associated with high voltagesubstations. Assist with fitting and welding ridged bus, making up jumpers to all equipmentincluding ground grid and grounding of all equipment associated with high voltage substations.SafetyWith a positive attitude toward personal and coworker safety, Sunflower employees will maintainthe highest level of responsibility and accountability in compliance with all safety policies,practices and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
