Shipping & Receiving Assistant
This position will work closely with our shipping and receiving teams to ensure product is shipped and received promptly and accurately.
Position Overview & Core Responsibilities:
This position will report to the Shipping Manager and indirectly to the Logistics Administrator and will perform the key tasks below.
Will load and unload shipments via Flatbed's, Containers, FTL and LTL.via forklifts and other manufacturing tools.
Obtains quotes, updates freight log and does all the required paperwork and labels, along with handling any receiving requirements.
Follows up and checks order status with production, locates items and prepares them for shipment.
Prepares items for safe shipment such as: pelletizing, wrapping, belting, blocking and etc.
Acts as a back up to both Shipping, Receiving and Inventory Control will perform department tasks as needed while another department member is on vacation.
Notifies Shipping Manager, sales department, supply chain or management of any problems that may affect shipments.
Checks shipping orders, voice mail and email messages, production schedules and/or production for information regarding shipments.
Must understand required operating , Quality Control, and safety policies and procedures.
Follows all operating and safety procedures for equipment used to lift, stack, wrap, weigh, band, label and print paperwork for items to be shipped.
Inspects to verify quantity and notes any freight damage for all received items.
Keeps any inventory, supplies and equipment maintained and properly organized.
Is a team player with other departments and tries to fill manpower shortages when needed and for efforts to get critical shipments made.
Works overtime as needed to meet trucks for critical shipments.
High School graduate or GED Equivalent
Basic math and measuring skills.
Forklift certification (preferred not required)
Preferred: Basic Excel and/or SAP skills.
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing (for sustained periods of time). This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to high heat.
