SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Maintenance Lead is responsible for execution of the daily work schedule and managing the hourly maintenance tradesmen. This position assists in troubleshooting equipment problems, assigning jobs to specific tradesmen, ensuring safe work practices are followed, and arranging for overtime coverage as needed. The Maintenance Lead will ensure hourly tradesmen adhere to all company policies and procedures using positive feedback when possible and discipline when necessary. When unplanned breakdowns occur, the supervisor will reassign the workforce as needed to maximize production capacity. Safety toolbox talks are given daily, attendance issues are coordinated, and development of personnel is ongoing.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • High School Diploma/GED with years of OJT

  • Technical Certification

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5 years minimum as a mechanic or other technical tradesman

  • 2-3 years experience leading a team

  • Troubleshooting experience

  • Able to read technical manuals/blueprints

  • Understanding of GMP

  • SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Good people skills

  • Mechanical, electrical, pipefitting, rigging

  • Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance

  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft office, email, etc.)

  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills

  • Report writing

  • Ability to train others

  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays to support 24/7 operation

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

  • Executes maintenance plans according to the work schedule. Prioritizes shift work, while properly assigning shift resources to effectively utilize their experience, training and ability.

  • Ensures the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, demonstrate safety leadership through participation in all safety processes with a goal of Zero injuries.

  • Recognizes environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and takes actions to insure the hazards are eliminated so as not to affect employee safety, product quality and environmental purity.

  • Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on shift and within department.

  • Works with employees to develop a high level of job proficiency. Analyze maintenance performance and work to improve efficiencies.

  • Provides positive reinforcement when employees are observed producing good results and safe performance.

  • Maintains discipline within the department and documents unusual or unacceptable behaviors.

  • Responsible for development of maintenance employees. Proactively engage in the development & training of hourly labor.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills. Utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.

  • Collaborates with other facility management to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.

  • Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.

  • Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in the execution of daily maintenance activities.

  • Manage and analyze preventive maintenance schedules, inspections and repairs to minimize down time.

  • Keep Plant Manager informed and coordinate with Plant Superintendent concerning the execution of maintenance and repair work schedules
