Job Description:

Cargill Salt, a business unit of Cargill, Incorporated, is a leader in the industry, providing salt, service and solutions to the food, water conditioning, agricultural, industrial, and packaged ice control markets. Cargill Salt is currently accepting applications for Processing Relief Operators at our Hutchinson, KS Salt packaging facility.

The Plant Operator’s duties may include, but are not limited to:

Produce and dry salt in its raw form by operating the evaporator salt producing and drying equipment. Responsible to assist as necessary in the operation of equipment associated to the evaporative and drying process which includes but is not limited to boilers, turbines, pumps, air compressors, bucket elevators, conveyors, the brine supply system and pollution control system.

Safely perform all labor necessary to displace salt and make pellets, and to maintain operational integrity of the bin building equipment. Ensure that bins are full of designated salt that meets all quality standards.

Principal Accountabilities

Maintains and operates all evaporative and drying equipment

Make proper adjustments to equipment to maintain efficient and proper operation pellet and screening system

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

  • Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility.

  • Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling and pounding with hammer, able to perform physical job duties including work in confined spaces.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas.

  • Must be able to operate machinery.

  • Must be able to read/write English.

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to work overtime.

  • Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts.

Preferred:

  • Forklift certified.

  • Prior experience in production related work.
