Tyson Foods Refrigeration Mechanic PM in Hutchinson, Kansas

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


Respond and perform a variety of mechanical repairs to trouble calls from the production floor.

Perform maintenance duties on ammonia refrigeration equipment.

Perform fabrication and welding job duties as needed.

Perform single phase and 3 phase electrical trouble shooting and repairs on production and plant equipment.

Assist the supervisor in planning scheduling, directing, and completing maintenance work orders.

Provide maintenance trouble-shooting assistance as necessary to maintain operations.

Observe all safety rules and take an active role in the promotion of safety.


Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more. Regularly required to stand, stoop, bend, climb ladders, change work levels, twist and squat, climb stairs, reach, push, pull and move about the facility. Work in hot, cold, and wet environments.

Must be able to read explicit simple instructions and do required paperwork.

Must wear safety equipment, etc. and follow GMP’s.

Must be able to meet the requirements to be a member of HAZMAT team.

Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical required to perform repairs and maintenance on plant equipment is preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required and listening skills, ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people.

Must have a minimum of (3) years of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or be graduate of an industrial maintenance training program. (can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 3 years).

6 months continuous employment in the past 12 months.

Must have PSM Experience.

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
