ICC encourages diversity among its employees.*Position Summary*The Director of eSports/Head Coach will be responsible for developing and launching a varsityeSports program at Independence Community College. This position is responsible for all aspects of coaching the team, including: recruiting qualified students for participation in the program, scheduling and coaching intercollegiate matches and tournaments, scheduling practice preparation, and addressing any barriers to the success of the program. The head coach must demonstrate a vision for a collegiate eSports program at ICC and a commitment to the mission and vision of the College. The successful candidate will demonstrate and support a commitment and sensitivity to diversity, gender equity, and equal opportunity.The position is housed in the Student Affairs department and reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs.This position works collaboratively with all functional areas of the college.*Position Information*The Director of eSports/Head Coach position is a full-time, twelve-month salaried position.Competitive salary based upon experience.*Minimum Qualifications* A Bachelor's degree in any field required. At least one year of experience in a competitive eSports environment involving multiplayeronline video games with team-based elements. Expert knowledge of League of Legends,Overwatch, Hearthstone, or similar games is required. Coaching or teaching experience preferred. Experience recruiting high school or college students preferred. Ability to envision and drive growth for the development and launch of an eSports programat ICC. Self-motivated, with the ability to resolve issues independently. Strong relationship-building skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot equipment for optimal gaming experience. Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, and administrators. Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competingresponsibilities. Must promote a positive and equitable team environment. Exceptional customer service skills and a positive attitude. Must be able to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends. Significant travelis required for recruiting, as well as with team for tournaments. Must successfully pass a background check.*Primary Responsibilities* Use the College's mission and strategic plan as a guideline to develop and direct a successfuleSports program. Ensure an environment that promotes student safety and equity. Manage the recruitment and retention of students participating in the eSports program. Cultivate positive relationships with students and their families. Work with the Vice President for Student Affairs and campus partners to establish annualrecruitment goals. Conduct coaching and instruction activities during training, practice, and competition. Provide guidance and input on the games selected for varsity competition. Provide input on the designing of eSports facilities and the selection of equipment, as wellas maintaining both. Develop practice schedules and a training program as appropriate for varsity and clubeSports teams. Coordinate with the Director of Student Life to integrate the team into the Student Unionand provide support to the larger on-campus gaming community. Supervise team travel when appropriate. Running camps, clinics, and other promotional events. Seek out corporate sponsorships and other funding opportunities to align with the College'sannual fundraising strategy. Ensure team compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Continuously ensure personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with themission, vision, values, and brand of ICC. Prepare and monitor annual budget for eSports program.
