The individual in this position performs a variety of skilled semi-skilled tasks and technical work in the construction, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs of Police Department facilities and vehicles. The Logistics and Support Officer is also responsible for issuing department equipment, coordination of alarms, purchasing for the Police Department, budgeting, and other duties as assigned by a Supervisor.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsible for the upkeep of police department facilities, with the assistance of Junction City building maintenance.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Police Department vehicles.Schedules maintenance (oil changes, vehicle service, tire changes). Ensures that vehicle and equipment problems are reported and appropriate repairs are made in a timely fashion.
  • Informs home and business owners by mail when they have false alarms for police services.Coordinates with the City Treasurer regarding chargeable alarms.
  • Assists in developing budget data for the construction, repair and/or maintenance of department activities and programs.
  • Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings
  • Maintains key security for physical keys as well as RFID keycards
  • Evaluates status of buildings and facilities, and schedules needed repairs and projects as assigned.
  • Assists in the analysis and inspection of heating, cooling, air handling, lighting, plumbing and other building systems to give input on maintenance, repair, or replacement needs.
  • Coordinates the disposition of surplus property
  • Purchase and coordination of the upfitting of new police vehicles
  • Maintains the fixed asset inventory for the city.A full inventory of all fixed assets owned by the Police Department will be conducted and submitted to the City yearly.
  • Writes agenda items for city commission meetings
  • Pays bills for the Police Department related to this position.
  • Tracks body armor expiration dates and insures that officers always have up to date body armor
  • Monitors surveillance camera systems for errors.
  • Schedules and coordinates repair efforts on vehicles damaged in collision accidents.
