JOB SUMMARY The job duties of the WIC Coordinator include but are not limited to inform, educate and empower people about health issues; to mobilize community partnerships to identify and solve health problems; to develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts; to enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety; to link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable; and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The duties described below are indicative of what the WIC Coordinator might be asked to perform. This job description is to incorporate any County Resolutions for the position of WIC Coordinator. This position description is not designed to list all tasks and responsibilities of this position. WIC Administration.Completes all WIC, Geary County, and local trainings as assigned.Explains WIC services, benefits, and policies to clients.Conducts dietary and health assessments during WIC Certification, Nutrition Education Individual, and Breastfeeding support appointments.Assess clinic and community for Nutrition Service Plan (NSP) needs assessment.Collaborates with other team members to develop and complete NSP.Writes, directs, monitors and evaluates annual NSP.Reviews budget and submit revisions if needed to meet NSP.Monitors quality and appropriateness of nutrition counseling and information.Facilitates and coordinates nutrition services with other health care providers.Reviews and coordinates nutrition education options and appointments.Analyzes nutrition services outcomes.Coordinates two outreach events per year.Develops and distributes positive WIC information.Monitors and coordinates daily clinic operations to meet client needs.Collaborates with health department administration to meet their needs.Assist in developing nutrition education materials, activities, and outreach.Records hours worked on quarterly time study form.Attends assigned coalition meetings as a WIC representative.Reports any suspicion of domestic violence or child abuse or neglect to supervisor or other administrative staff.Assists with community intervention planning, implementation, and evaluation. Client Engagement.Assesses nutritional risks.Provides nutrition counseling to clients, caregivers, and families.Tailors food packages and complete special Issuance authorization paperwork addressing specialized dietary needs.Completes all KWIC documentation for any contact or referral.Adjusts appointment flow sheet as needed during certification period for follow-up and appointments according to WIC policies.Consults and coordinates client care with community care providers as appropriate.Obtains accurate height, weight, and lab values.Provide breastfeeding promotion and support as appropriate. Supervisory Functions.Supervise staff in planning work, assignment of tasks, evaluation of work performed, preparation of evaluations, administering corrective actions, interviewing and selecting staff, training, ensuring work is done in accordance with safety protocols and recommending employee transfers, promotions, discharge and salary increases.Develop and implement policies as required.
