Job Description Summary:

The Accountant II - Student Accounting reports directly to the Student Accounting Manager and is responsible for the reconciliation of student accounting and financial aid funds, processing of student financial aid requests, and daily billing and collection efforts of the University.

Job Duties

  • Provide customer service to students, parents and departments in person, by phone, letter, or e-mail related to student billing and collection questions.

{=html} <!-- --> - Review, analyze, and troubleshoot student accounts to answer questions and assist students in understanding their accounts or refer to appropriate department for assistance. - Reconcile student accounting and financial aid funds in Workday monthly. - Assist in the manual bank reconciliation process for the Student Accounting bank account daily. - Act as a backup for processing student refunds as directed by the Student Accounting Manager on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. - Process third-party sponsorships including set-up, student assignment in Enroll n Pay, monthly sponsor billing, ISD processing, rollovers and refunds. - Act as a backup for other Student Accounting personnel. - Support Student Accounting Manager with special projects and other requests as needed. - This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Work Environment: This is a hybrid position that requires in office attendance 2-3 days a week.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in Excel.
  • Experience in a customer service position.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal customer service skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Must be a capable team player and able to adapt to various competing requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and other computer applications related to the position or assignment.
  • Must be able to work with moderate supervision displaying strong self-motivation.
  • Must have the ability to effectively and appropriately interface and communicate with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
