Synchrony AVP, IAM Security Engineer in Kansas City, Kansas
Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, IAM Security Engineer will be responsible for delivering automation capabilities for programs such as Secrets Management and Highly Privileged Access (HPA) Monitoring. This role partners closely with stakeholders across Synchrony's technology teams to identify use cases for automation, design scalable automation, and implement reliable and resilient solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Partner with stakeholders across the organization to capture existing and emerging use cases that leverage authentication keys
Build dashboards and queries in Splunk Clouds to analyze event patterns and present meaningful trends and insights
Standardize metrics and reporting for Secrets Management and HPA Monitoring to drive more efficient program oversight
Engage in and attend enterprise forums such as Architecture Review Board and the Cloud Design Authority
Build automation capabilities leveraging a multitude of approved Synchrony technologies, such as AWS and Azure services, Oracle Application Express (APEX), and other COTS tools
Organize, prioritize, and communicate program deliverables and progress to senior leadership
Identify program risks and recommend thoughtful mitigations
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5+ years of IT experience, or in lieu of degree, a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology.
A minimum of 1 year hands-on experience with IAM technologies
Strong technical understanding of API level authentication and authorization
Conceptual understanding of Splunk Cloud and Splunk Processing Language (SPL)
Experience working in a cloud (PaaS) environment
Knowledge of foundational IAM concepts - Authentication, Authorization, RBAC, etc
Hands-on experience with DevOps and CI/CD tooling, such as BitBucket and Jenkins
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, such as SOX, PCI, FFIEC, CRI, and NIST
Experience working in Agile methodology, leveraging Jira and Jira Align
Desired Characteristics :
Industry or technology specific certifications (AWS, Hashi, DevOps, etc.)
Experience interfacing with senior leaders in a financial services organization
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
