Synchrony AVP, Source to Pay - Software Procurement Leader in Kansas City, Kansas

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

As a Software Procurement Leader, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end software procurement and demand management processes, from overseeing organization's software assets, documenting our negotiated entitlements, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, managing supplier rebates, tracking and optimizing software usage, to license acquisition. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including Sourcing, to understand software/demand requirements, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure compliance with software licensing terms and organizational policies. Your role will involve strategic planning, reporting, and continuous improvement of Software procurement/demand management processes to optimize software investments and support the organization's goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Software procurement team responsible for purchasing, licensing, and deployment activities, in collaboration with IT and source to pay teams.

  • Manages software procurement process: Downloads software from publishers' portals, obtains quotes from suppliers, assigns software for users/devices, reconciles invoices, and assigns licenses in software management tools.

  • Reconcile usage vs. entitlements to validate contract / purchase compliance Develop & implement processes for managing software asset inventory efficiently & accurately for top software publishers.

  • Monitors operational fulfilment: Keeps track of the Software Procurement COE ServiceNow ticket queue to ensure timely completion of operational fulfilment tickets.

  • Supports compliance and process improvement: Assists ITAM teams in monitoring and enforcing compliance with asset management policies, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and implements logical improvement programs to optimize productivity.

  • Collaborate with business units and IT teams to understand software requirements and recommend appropriate solutions to meet business needs.

  • Monitor software usage, licenses, and expenditures to identify opportunities for cost optimization and rationalization as per the Synchrony requirements - Reconcile usage vs. entitlements to validate contract / purchase compliance

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software procurement and license management to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Utilize Software metering techniques that helps business teams measure, track and analyze the usage of software and optimize the software license allocations

  • Conducts analysis of software needs: Collaborates with departments to assess current and future software requirements based on business needs, growth projections, and technological advancements.

  • Ensures compliance and cost optimization: Manages software licenses and agreements to mitigate legal and financial risks, including monitoring license usage, renewals, and optimizing allocations to minimize costs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years' experience in software procurement and software asset management, or in lieu of a degree 8+ years' experience in software procurement and software asset management.

  • 1 year experience and understanding of software licensing models, contract terms, pricing structures, and negotiation strategies.

  • Solid project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple procurement projects effectively.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with source to pay processes, tools, and technologies, such as e-procurement systems and contract management software, software asset management tools and technologies.

  • Knowledge of IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL)

  • Experience and proficiency ServiceNow or any other major ITAM tool

  • Experience with Coupa

  • Experience in internal and external audits

  • ITIL 4 Certified

  • ITAM/SAM Certified

  • Knowledge of end to end procurement process

  • Good oral/written communication skills

  • Demonstration of high level of integrity and ethics

  • Ability to make decisions based on quantitative analysis and creative thinking

  • Strong self-starter balanced with desire to achieve team goals

  • Presentation / Reporting skills

Applicants external to Synchrony who are currently employed on H-1B visa must have at least 2 years of eligibility remaining on their current visa term in order for Synchrony to petition for an employment based visa on behalf of such applicant. L1 visa would be considered for an internal candidate meeting all requirements for the L1 and all US Synchrony eligibility requirements.

Applicants holding other types of visas, such as F-1 visas, must have at least 2 years of eligibility that would permit them to work for Synchrony.

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
