KVC Hospitals Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) in Kansas City, Kansas

Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) provide compassionate care to children and adolescents. BHTs are responsible for supervising clients at all times to ensure basic needs are being met to improve treatment outcomes. They assist clients through completion of daily living skills, activities and responsibilities by modeling positive behavior and effective problem-solving techniques. Provides crisis intervention by acting quickly to diffuse problems and de-escalate behaviors that are progressing in a negative or unsafe direction. Practice conduct that displays respect for all KVC colleagues and community stakeholders regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or ethnicity. Respect all youth and treat them as individuals in accordance with their treatment plan and collaborate with Treatment Team providing the best possible care. Review client case histories and become familiar with their treatment plan goals; and carry out interventions as described in the treatment plans. Treat clients, clients families, colleagues and constituents with respect. Be a role model for the children and families in our facilities, remain professional, respectful, and calm while on duty. Provide Crisis intervention when necessary and use approved tools, techniques and resources available. Complete required documentation, including phone calls and visitations, forms and reports per agency's policy and procedures; enters documentation accurately and timely per KVC Hospitals guidelines. Assist with structured group activities by giving youth choices and welcome poor choices as teachable moments. Teach and promote responsible behavior. Create and maintain secure, safe, pleasant, nurturing living and learning environments. As directed, may assist in meal preparation, laundry and provide transportation for clients to visits and other appointments as needed. Attend meetings, mandated training and shift turnover meetings, dependent on location. Complete all training and course work assigned. Valid unencumbered Drivers License and auto insurance must be current at all times to retain employment.
