We have an opportunity for a Bill of Materials Engineer to join our Kansas City, KS team. You will develop, maintain, and control the bills of materials of standard product based on internal standards and customer specifications; this involves servicing multiple regional sales offices and distributors, as well as supporting projects for a variety of clients (e.g., Municipal, Industrial, Commercial, Fire, Agricultural, etc.).

You will:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Application Engineers, Project Managers, Product Engineers, Order Entry Representatives, and Buyers to facilitate the processing of orders.

  • Review job specifications with Order Engineer for compatibility with the order and factory quote to ensure product meets the product specification.

  • Process work orders, parts lists, and routings to comply with the order.

  • If necessary, request special parts from Product Engineering and prepares pre-releases, as required.

  • Contribute to preparation of complex as-built Operation and Maintenance [O&M] manuals.

  • Maintain familiarity with standard and non-standard construction of each product line as listed and specified in product catalogs and price pages.

  • Analyze problems, identify issues, and update bills of materials accordingly.

  • Demonstrate the ability to perform sound engineering principles.

  • Interact with Order Engineer and manufacturing on bill of material issues.

  • Prepare technical data, bills of material, and reports for use in establishing submittal documentation and reference material.

  • Establish and maintain parts list, material masters, paint requirements, manuals, and quality standards.

  • Recommend product design changes based on value engineering.

  • Prepare manuals, charts, graphs, or other presentation of information.

  • Interact with manufacturing to resolve in-house product failures and production problems.

  • Maintain proficiency in current technology and integrates current technology with new design.

  • Must employ lean methodologies and tools to improve processes.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred).

  • Previous work experience preferred

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in English (written & verbal).

  • Completion of Physics and/or Engineering coursework; Mechanical Engineering (e.g., BSME) is a plus.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • A detail-oriented mindset.

  • Experience working with rotating equipment, especially industrial pumps and/or hydraulic systems; exposure to centrifugal pumps is a plus.

  • Proven ability to interpret blueprints and drawings; experience with reading technical plans & specifications is a plus.

  • Strong documentation and analytical skills.

  • Proven experience demonstrating a self-motivated and team player mentality.

  • Excellent organizational skills: experience with multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills: previous experience with customer service and/or sales, especially while working with both internal and external clients, is a plus.

  • Computer skills – Microsoft Office, Auto-CAD, and Solid Works. SAP and Visual Basic is a plus.
