Saint-Gobain Buyer/ Administrative Assistant in Kansas City, Kansas
The buyer is responsible for managing all purchasing functions of the Kansas City plant. This position must manage the buying and purchasing duties for the plant in compliance with all corporate policies and meet the needs of the internal customers in a timely manner. This position also establishes annual purchasing contracts for goods and services and is the primary contact between vendors and CertainTeed personnel.
Enforce plant, group and corporate purchasing procedures. Negotiate purchasing contracts with local vendors. Including storeroom supplies, maintenance supplies, Office Supplies / Equipment, Manufacturing Supplies, back up utilities, utility contracts, outside warehouse contracts, spotting service and other purchasing/plant duties as assigned by supervisor.
Resolve vendor pricing (invoicing) problems. Raw Material Management. Daily updates and review of MRP for all batch and binder materials. Review of all cold end raw material requirements.
Scheduling of railcar delivery and all other raw material deliveries.
Managing monthly raw material requirements and coordinate ordering.
Establish and Manage inventory levels to budget for all raw materials.
Organize and manage monthly raw material physical inventories.
Reconcile raw materials for self-invoicing. Assist Corporate Purchasing with Raw Material Contracts.
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. However, a two (2) year associate’s degree with a commitment to obtain a 4 year degree with at least 5 years of purchasing and/or materials mgmt experience would be considered.
Five years of purchasing experience including raw materials, MRO purchases, and non-MRO purchases along with technical aptitude and professional conduct.
Candidate needs to be a self-starter, organized, able to handle multiple projects, determine priorities and have the ability to manage pressure and stress.
Candidate must be able to conduct activities in a confidential and secure manner. Employee must be able to communicate with all levels of customers, and communicate with different in-plant departments.
