Job Description Summary:
As a premier, research intensive academic health center, committed to fostering inclusive learning and working environments, The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is seeking an experienced, self-motivated leader to drive university-wide initiatives on the Kansas City, Salina, and Wichita campuses.
The Director for Impact and Belonging - KUMC will work collaboratively with the associate and assistant vice chancellors within the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX in the development, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of service delivery, advocacy, and educational programming efforts to achieve the organization\'s mission, vision and strategic initiatives in creating a campus climate defined by respect, access, and belonging. The Director will assist the associate and assistant vice chancellors in developing and fostering collaborative internal and external partnerships to advance strategic initiatives across all of KU\'s campuses. The Director will gather data to inform best practices that support the university\'s mission; actively engage students, learners, staff, and faculty; and help convene individuals and groups together around a common purpose.
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with associate and assistant vice chancellors to develop, implement, monitor and report on impact and belonging initiatives on KUMC campuses, as well as the broader KU community.
- Chair and/or serves on committees at the associate and assistant vice chancellors\' request
- Attend meetings representing the associate or assistant vice chancellor, as needed
- Assist in identifying funding opportunities for scholarship and program development/management
- Respond to questions, conduct research and/or data analysis on issues and respond to issues as needed. Provide consistent follow-up on issues.
- Provide project management for multiple internal and external impact and belonging projects, ensuring projects are completed effectively and efficiently, in accordance with established procedures and deadlines
- Collaborate with learners, students, staff, faculty, and departments on issues regarding impact and belonging initiatives on all KUMC campuses (Kansas City, Salina, and Wichita)
- Assist the assistant vice chancellor with creation, revision, and assessment of departmental and university policies related to impact and belonging
- Ensure private information (financial, student records, security, personnel, incident files, etc.) remains secure and confidential
- Support the initiatives of the Impact Cabinet and subcommittees, as well as affinity groups by developing and delivering relevant programming needed to bring awareness to students, learners, staff, faculty, and surrounding communities
- Monitor internal and external trends relative to belonging, access, and respect and convey findings to the assistant vice chancellor
- Acquire new knowledge and networks both inside and outside the organization
- Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with a variety of audiences across all levels in each of the KUMC campuses, the University of Kansas Health System, and surrounding communities that foster growth towards department and university missions and goals
- Communicate clearly and effectively in all forms, including written and verbal, to convey accurate information to all relevant parties
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Master\'s degree in a relevant field
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience with strategic initiatives focusing on access, belonging, and working with marginalized populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctoral/terminal degree in a relevant field
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience working in a healthcare setting.
Skills:
Experience with policy development
Bilingual or multilingual skills
Excellent project management skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects
Demonstrated experience supervising full-time professional staff members
Demonstrated experience building and executing successful programs
Demonstrated high level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, hospitality and discretion
