Job Description

This role is critical to delivering superior meeting, event and experiences for DFA and all its stakeholders across the United States: farmer-owners, employees, customers, industry, strategic partners and vendors. This role represents Dairy Farmers of America in all its interactions, and it is key that the person who fills this role understands that their personal impact will go beyond simply completing tasks, but in how they work with all stakeholders will create positive ripples. This person will have oversight and manage pre-production and set up and break down of assigned events, including responsibility for loading and driving the truck that holds DFA’s audio visual and other event equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Events and Experience team to coordinate event specific equipment needs, with understanding around what needs to be sent from DFA warehouse, what is onsite and what may need to be sourced at event location

  • Source truck and other required materials or needs for a particular event location, including but not limited to freezers, furniture, etc.

  • Create schedule of when truck needs to be loaded and time to drive to event location to ensure timely arrival based on event needs

  • Drive truck to event location; unload and reload truck or if support is available, direct unload and reload while also participating in needs

  • Set up specific components of event needs, including but not limited to, registration needs, printers, microphone systems including power and other electrical requirements

  • Research event location to understand proximity to retailers or other service vendors to address event needs that may arise during event set up and execution

  • Troubleshoot during event preparation and during the event to ensure all event needs or setups are correct including making decisions that align to brand guidelines, billing and / or staffing

  • Collaborate with event team and other contractors to support event needs

  • Support audio visual production team; learn key specifications and needs of equipment as specified or required by Director of Audio and Visual

  • High resolution copy paper, water, snacks and other items that might be needed

  • Make sure fire and safety codes are met during set up and actual event

  • Keep and cultivate relationships with event team, support staff, event attendees and partners with professional and courteous demeanor

  • Manage onsite set up, build and break down of events

  • Oversee administrative tasks pertaining to assigned events

  • Oversight for warehouse inventory, including its location, purpose, owner and needs

  • Manage multiple deadlines with each event and make decisions based on the needs and objectives of the event

  • Interact effectively with all levels of cooperative executives

  • Be knowledgeable of, and comply with, all corporate policies

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • 5 or more years of proven, relevant work experience

  • Certification and/or License – Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred

  • If CDL not held, will be a requirement of the job to obtain one for state of residence. Please see CDL requirements for the state you reside to ensure you can comply

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be willing to travel 75%-100% (3+ weeks per month)

  • Ability to deliver best in class customer service in all areas of day-to-day work with stakeholder interactions

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and project simultaneously with excellent organizational skills in a highly effective manner

  • Handles conflicts, makes thoughtful decisions with the best interest of the event in mind, and exercises proper action and behavior during stressful situations

  • Remains flexile and optimistic, adjusting to situations as they occur

  • Maturity to lead and manage event crew at on-site locations and designated travel destinations

  • Maintains a professional image and effective working relationships with farmer-owners, employees, vendors and partners

  • Ability to work in a variety of climates, indoors and out, and the ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • The ability to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds (50 lbs.) over your head

  • Able to be proactive, reliable, detail-oriented, resourceful, and a problem solver

  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Able to be self-motivated

  • Able to demonstrate flexibility in planning, organizing, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
