Manager Process R&D - Asphaltic Rolls Process and Operations - Job Description
We are looking for a Manager Process R&D to manage multi-plant process development and process improvement initiatives and projects. This role provides technical process services support across multiple sites and works cross functionally on projects to achieve organizational objectives. The projects may be developmental in nature, may include the application of existing technologies and may include capital project engineering and management. Projects are managed from inception through start up and distribution, requiring coordination with multiple business functions.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
⦁ Lead and support process innovation efforts and improvements.
⦁ Drive sustainability efforts across asphaltic roll plant operations.
⦁ Lead, guide and prioritize alternative RM qualifications with the procurement group.
⦁ Manage quality system audits.
⦁ Supply plant and business support on projects and activities that provide additional operating income through the application of variation reduction techniques, process modification, product modification, product design, new raw materials, improved raw material utilization, more cost effective use of raw materials and improved line speed.
⦁ Drive consistency and optimization of finished product properties to assure ASTM, UL, FM, etc compliance and work alongside marketing and customers to achieve them.
⦁ Lead efforts to design and implement process improvement initiatives and seamlessly manage project details, ensuring safe, timely and high-quality solutions.
⦁ Drive standardization and capture / documentation of best practice procedures across all four asphaltic roll plants.
⦁ Apply standard GAF systems to ensure that project documentation exists to facilitate future application.
⦁ Support plant OEE Initiatives.
⦁ Perform research required to improve and develop processes. Partners with plant personnel to optimize current processes and process knowledge.
⦁ Provide mentorship and guidance to Plant Technical Services Managers and Process Engineers.
⦁ Perform other duties as assigned.
⦁ Provide Technical support to the plants for their Run the Business Goals.
⦁ Lead/Participate on New Product Development Teams and provide input to process related changes based on trial data.
⦁ Define and coordinate Product construction and formulation cost optimization.
⦁ Develop Organizational Readiness, Depth and Knowledge Transference.
⦁ Support deployment of the 2030 vision in regards to process knowledge.
⦁ Assure Factory of the Future Data Systems are being utilized fully across the plants.
⦁ Provide input into the annual capital development process.
⦁ Demonstrated detailed technical engineering skills in a continuous web manufacturing environment.
⦁ Demonstrated skill in applying Lean Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures with proven quantifiable results.
⦁ Analytical Troubleshooting Techniques, Statistical analysis – Six Sigma Methodology, Quality Process Improvement principles.
⦁ Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and listening.
⦁ Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Google Suite applications.
⦁ Excellent planning and organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and achieve results.
⦁ Demonstrated skill in problem solving, statistical expertise, and leading problem solving teams.
⦁ Proven ability to influence decision making at the plant operations level.
⦁ Ability to make project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently and maintain flexibility.
⦁ Results oriented, high energy, credible, honest, self-motivated person.
⦁ Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
⦁ 10+ years of demonstrated experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
⦁ Demonstrated safety leadership skills.
⦁ Domestic travel is required (up to 50%).
