Position Description:.\ The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for the complete design and ultimate performance of highly complex, mobile and stationary systems for the aviation industry. These systems must conform to the latest standards established by many regulatory agencies such as the NFPA, ATA, API, DOT and ASME. To be successful, the PE\'s system designs and documentation must enable our production personnel to assemble the systems in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

\ Essential Duties and Responsibilities

\ Creates complete and comprehensive \'Engineering Packets\'.The \'Engineering Packet\' is the most critical element of the successful completion of AVTE\'s products, and its purpose is to enable the AVTE materials and production/assembly personnel to perform their jobs at the highest level. The \'Engineering Packet shall enable AVTE personnel to procure the necessary materials and to assemble and test the specified product. The \'Engineering Packet\' you will be responsible for creating shall include the following items:

Producing a complete Bill of Materials (BOM). This will include the PE researching and identifying the necessary components and brackets required to assemble a completed AVTE product (in general, the products include 250 to 400 separate bill of material line items, and ultimately, the PE must become familiar and extremely knowledgeable about all of the items on the BOM).

Developing general arrangement drawings. This will include the PE working with the designers to create 2-D and 3-D engineering drawings of the particular AVTE products. These drawings will be used by assembly/production personnel to complete the product. The GA drawings shall be detailed and shall identify the location of the major components.

Creating detailed piping schematics. This will include the PE creating detailed product flow diagrams to be used by pipe welders assemblers.

Designing detailed control system schematics. This will include the PE creating the required and detailed electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and logic-control schematics enabling the AVTE production personnel to assemble the product as drawn, and ensuring the final product performs as specified.

Understands the truck-chassis integration.Truck-chassis are a vital sub-component (generally the most expensive and most critical component) of many of the AVTE product line, and the PE will be responsible for understanding the particular regulations governing the use of truck-chassis in our industry (such as DOT regulations, etc.).

Integrates AVTE\'s control systems with the variety of truck-chassis control systems (i.e. integrating the electrical, hydraulic, and logic systems of AVTE\'s systems to the truck-chassis systems).

Understands the product tank integration.Product tanks are also a vital sub-component of many of AVTE\'s products, and the PE will be responsible for understanding the particular regulations governing the use of hazardous materials product tanks in our industry (again, such as DOT regulations, weight ratings, etc).

Responsible for insuring the tank designs provided by AVTE\'s tank vendors will successfully integrate into internal applications (this includes understanding how the tank mounts onto the truck-chassis, correctly locating the valves installed in the tank so they do not interfere with the chassis, etc.).

Trouble-shoots product/product in-services at customer locations. Will ultimately be responsible for the overall performance and adherence to specifications of the AVTE engineered products they design. This will include timely trouble-shooting of the completed products while at test facilities, and may also trouble-shoot AVTE products and training at customer facilities (note, this will include visits to cu tomers within the U.S. and abroad as 30% of AVTE products are shipped internationally).
