Job Description Summary:
The Postdoctoral Fellow works in a team environment, under direction of the principal investigator at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. This fellow is responsible for employing a broad knowledge of procedures and principles to design and conduct research and to disseminate findings.

Research Overview:
- Plan, conduct and direct experiments related to the assigned research project/s. One of the projects (primary project) will involve directed differentiation of mammalian stem cells and study placentation.
- Generate and analyze data.
- Guide and redirect the project/s as needed based on statistical analyses.
Expectations:
- Read literature articles, develop new ideas, and assimilate the information into project design/interpretation.
- Assist in writing research grant applications and progress reports on the assigned project/s in consultation with the Principal Investigator.
- Interact with Core facility Directors at the KU Medical Center including the Bioinformatics Core and the Histology Core, to successfully conduct experiments and analyze data through the core facilities.
- Write manuscripts and research reports, present data at regional, national and international meetings.
Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Department, understand and follow all IACUC and biosafety protocols, and attend departmental seminars and regular lab meetings.

Required Qualifications
Education: PhD in a Biological Science or Bioinformatics
Work Experience: 1 year of related experience in biomedical research to produce strong peer-reviewed publications
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of Molecular Biology.
- Expertise in cell biology techniques.
- Experience in working with mouse models.
- Expertise in Bioinformatics including analyses of data related to RNA-seq, ChiP-seq, global methylation and single-cell genomics.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
