We have an opportunity for a Process Improvement Manager to join our Kansas City, KS team. You will work under the direction of Operations management and will be responsible for developing, implementing, sustaining and communicating an enterprise wide Lean program to achieve competitive market advantage through operational excellence.

You will:

  • Work with functional leaders to convert strategic deployment objectives into focused projects and kaizen events to achieve sustained performance improvement.

  • Provide knowledge, coaching and training of Lean techniques and Six-sigma principles throughout the organization. Be a “hands-on” facilitator and participant in those events and activities.

  • Develop and communicate reporting of continuous improvement activities and achievements.

  • Champion a continuous performance improvement culture throughout the site.

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of an operational excellence strategy using Lean techniques and Six-sigma principles to achieve strategic deployment objectives.

  • Oversee continuous performance improvement activities and coaching others in the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools, including the following techniques: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Standard Work, 5S, Cell Design, Kanban, Heijunka, Visual Management, Error Proofing, and Problem Solving. Ensure the integration of Lean techniques and Six Sigma principles into day-to-day work activity and planning.

  • Provide direction to Lean Champions to ensure kaizen events and projects are completed per schedule and sustained results achieved.

  • Implement a program and provide training of Lean / Six Sigma principles to internal employees.

  • Ensure that improvement actions are aligned across diverse organization functions and that all affected are adequately represented.

  • Act as advocate and change agent to drive and sustain improvements at all levels of the operations organization.

  • Author required process and reporting documentation. Maintain performance metrics.

  • Maintain technical competency and remain current regarding operational excellence and operational performance metrics.

  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Lead development of practices and methods to provide efficient manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Determine and establish work standard data and controls. Direct the generation of time studies and production studies.

  • Determine the most efficient assembly operations consistent with available equipment, facilities, processes, and costs.

  • Direct the design, fabrication, and procurement of tools and equipment to support production requirements.

  • Plan and recommend capital equipment purchases to support and improve manufacturing processes.

Key Qualifications:

  • Have earned at least a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering

  • Have 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing industry with process improvement, and applying Lean techniques and Six-sigma principles to assembly, fabrication, and machining operations.

  • Have 2+ years of experience in a leadership role (manager / supervisor)

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
